Driving up 101 today towards the beach steam suddenly started pouring out from under my hood. I pulled over and popped the hood. I had a burst heater hose and lost a lot of anti-freeze. I taped up the hose as best as possible to drive the eight miles to the next service station, but I didn’t have water to re-fill the radiator.

In the back of the Jeep we has a gallon of iced tea and a large bottle of Pepsi and a six-pack of beer. I went with the tea.

My question is: Did I cause any serious damage driving the eight miles to the closest service station using tea as a coolant? It was sugar sweetened tea. Did this make it worse?

I did drain the radiator at the service station and filled it with water (wouldn’t you know they didn’t have any anti-freeze there). And we got back home without any real problems.

But still?

i mean i was kept on hold for 45 mins, 2 kids in car on a mobile, busy motorway and 45 mins, im gob smacked.ok so car fixed in seconds, wire come off starter motor, but hey i know its sunday, but what do we pay them for, im really annoyed, what if my battery went flat on my mobile? i have 2 young children grrrrrr, just glad i never got put through to asia like british gas xx

You know that arrow that points to the car temperature?( Cold to hot)
Whever I go to places 5miles plus, (like to the beach, or to places like that...sometimes even to the neighboring city!!) it slowly goes to the H..then it reaches there and a light goes on.. I think a sound goes on too.. Then we have to turn off the car and wait 20-30 mins till it cools down, and go again. We have to continue doing that...
ALSO: whever the car goes slowly( if there's traffic..)for a long time, it overheats..:(

PLEASE help! P.S: I bought it used.

I am travelling to LA, California from San Antonio, TX along I-10 very soon and was wondering if anyone knows where the checkpoints are located, or how I could find this info. I just want to be prepared as to how much time I may have to add to the trip on account of these checkpoints, and know where they are so maybe I can call the roads departments and ask them how much of a delay can be expected. Any information would be greatly appreciated!
