and go up in the air a couple miles above new york while the earth turned below you then after about 3 hours because the earth is turning under you then you would come down in california. but if you get in a jet and travel west at aprox. 600 miles an hour why does it still take you 3 hours to get to california.

I found this video of a c-130 with these jet engines or something and it took off like a rocket (metaphorically). So what are these jets? is it a variant of the C-130 or just added on by this air force base or something? If you want to see it, here's the link- http://youtube.com/watch?v=t5BaNJRNj0g

I read about this new jet on the internet - it is a result of research by a consortium of scientists and experts and the like inc Boeing and MIT.
They designed a plane, the SAX-40 they call it, and it looks like a giant Stealth Bomber in my humble opinion.
Apparently it will use less fuel and be a lot quieter than today's jets.
There is just one snag - they estimate it will not be in use for another 25 years.
Why is this?

How many kilometers?

Dulles to JFK? Baltimore to Boston?

Does the slope of that flight look like a triangle, with a constant rate of climb, or a parabola, with the rate of climb slowly tapering off?
