Can anyone tell me what is involved with becoming an airplane mechanic? What training is necessary? What kind of certifications are required? Can you make a decent living at it?
Thanks.

I have hundreds of hours in SEL aircraft. I am not familiar with helicopters. When a helicopter is hovering how does the aircraft change its pitch in a stationary position? In other words lower the nose, or lower the tail? it couldn't be controled by ailorons or elevators could it, because there isn't any horizontal air flow over the control surfaces?

Two friends of mine & I were discussing and the question...or debate came up:
"If someone can fly a Cessna 182 Skylane (for instance) very well on MS-FlightSim, does it mean the person can fly a real Cessna 182 Skylane just as well"?

I just saw a house fire on the news and they mentioned that a helicopter had flown above the scene. Couldn't that smoke be dangerous in terms of the aircraft's visibility and interfere with what good they could do at the scene? If there's an explosion of some kind, couldn't the helicopter -- heaven forbid -- become part of the fire? Do they drop enough water to really make a difference? Is water the only substance that can be used to extinguish a fire? Thanks.

So, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas besides buying a model airplane. Please help, I really want him to like it! thanks! :)

If a plane went into a cloud, would it:

1) come out wet?
2) ...and would the shape of the cloud change?

I've seen a large number of them in the air over Sardinia and the locals are all questioning what they are about. They aren't writing anything, just making straight lines in the air.

Do you know why they do this? Do you know what they emit?

There are various conspiracy theories as to what these planes are doing. One idea is that they are to create rain. Any substantiated ideas?
