Do they put 2 FDRs in the plane to ensure redundancy?

no, but the cockpit voice recorder IS a seperate unit

Not that I am aware of. They definitely don't on military aircraft.

If you had two recorders, you'd need two data processors that all the sensor and instrumentation inputs go into before the data is sent over to the FDR.

To my knowledge there is not two flight data recorders on the aircraft. There are two recorders, one being the flight data recorder and the other being the cockpit voice recorder.
