No one knows for sure how fast the SR71 goes, it was retired before maximum speed was established. At least what was admitted to. The pilots of the SR71 wore space suits, the hull of the aircraft leaked fuel at lower altitudes, no one knows how high or how fast it could REALLY go. What a shame it was retired.
Keep in mind, it was flying for years before the general public even knew it existed

There are rumors that the Air stress has various planes now that could hit mach 6. The sr71 grew to become into initially outfitted in 1960. It wasn't until the mid 80's til the Air stress admitted that they had the sr71. Now, you will locate the sr71 in Museums. in simple terms think of of what the Air stress has on the instant that they gained't admit too. universal technology did a narrative on one airplane that should hit mach 6. in the object it observed the unique turbine engines that use a categorised alloy that should tolerate bigger tempuratures. Ram Jets prefer the two a booster rocket or seperate automobile to get the fee extreme adequate for the ram Jet to paintings. A ram Jet won't paintings sitting nonetheless. yet pulse jets will. So having a common engine is significant in case you prefer to be waiting to land at bases remote places and refuel and positioned it returned into the air without equiping each base with specific equipment.

fastest PRODUCTION aircraft, yes. . I can't remember the actual speed, but it was something like 2500 mph. .
they flew it from LA to Washington DC in 68 minutes. . that's pretty amazing. .
other aircraft have flown faster, but they were all experimental (the kind where they fly really fast but then the engine blows up at the end of the first flight). . X15, etc (which didn't take off from the ground but was dropped from a high flying plane. . so not the same thing. .
fastest production aircraft ever is the SR71

Yes and No. Excluding space shuttles and rockets, the fastest unmanned aircraft is the X-43 Hyper-X (being able to reach Mach 9.8), and the fastest manned aircraft is the X-15 (being able to reach Mach 6.72), but the fastest airplane in the world is the SR-71 Blackbird (being able to reach Mach 3.2+).

No! The fastest plane in the world is the Space Shuttle at mach 23 follwed the x-43a at Mach 10 (by an air breathing jet engine), and finally by the X-15 at mach 6.

The SR-71 is retired.
The Mig 25 has the fastest official speed of an airplane although the Mig 31 has demonstrated faster velocities.
Space shuttles and capsules, rocket planes, and unmanned aircraft don't count.

Nobody knows how fast the Habu was because nobody can get it up to top speed without loosing control. Top speed at that altitude is a control problem more than a thermodynamic or propulsion problem. I did talk to a guy that claimed to regularly cruise at Mach 3.88 @ 85,000 ft and then some... again, this was the 'comfortable' speed of the airplane.
