Hello everyone!

I bought an used car last summer because I needed a better transportation in order to get to my classes on time after work. Last time I filed my taxes, I asked the lady who prepared them about getting a car and she said she was NOT sure if I could claim tax back. I do not know how this works, but now that I have bought a car I would like to know if I can claim some tax back since I am a student and my car payments are as high as my small paycheck. I pay my college tuition from my own pocket; no student loans, etc.

Thank you!

Just wondering how it works. For example, if I have $5000 deduction, does that count toward Federal, State, Medicare (1.4%), and Social Security (6.2%)?

I live in Texas, file for 0 dependents, and do not have state or city taxes. When I multiply my hours worked by the rate, what do I substract from it. How much taxes and other deductions do I subtract as in taxes, unemployment, and Social security adn what else and the percentages for each. I do not have nothing subtract from my check as like health insurance or any other "programs" Thanks.

The most info someone gives me will get the best answer

Hello everyone, Farrah had asked a similar question. If a family member that is a US Citizen or US Resident Alien and lives in Pakistan sends money that he or she inherited to another family member (brother or sister) so the family member in the US can pruchase a home for himself or herself, what tax law(s) apply in this situation? If taxes has been paid in Pakistan on that money, will the family memeber, who lives in the US. be also required to pay taxes in the US? I am not sure if gift tax applies in this case and if there is a way to reduce the amount of tax paid because I would hate to have my friend double taxed (in Pakistan and the US). Thank you.

Followup to answer to "Can $12000 per year per child be gifted without inheritance tax even if the money comes from an IRA or 401k?"

Is it state specific?

I plan on working part time evenings and weekends, maybe 20 hours per week. I am familiar with how this is calculated, but as far as a ballpark figure, what could I possibly get? what is realistic? i dont want to get my hopes up. i'll be working in a lower-income neighborhood...will that mean a lot of instant refunds and a bigger comission for me?

i know there are a lot of variables to this. i am very curious about the earning potential, but dont want to seem greedy to my instructor or manager. any info at all would be very helpful to me

i consider myself somewhat intelligent and have an accounting background.

The gift giver is 67 years old with 401k and IRA. The receivers are her children. What kind of taxes can be avoided, and which still must be incurred, and at what rate then?

Thanks so much.
