Does anyone know how I can find a job preparing income taxes on line. I have over 30 yrs experience and am a retired Illinois tax auditor. I have prepared for a CPA firm in Portland Maine the last 2 yrs, but now I live in rural Michigan and cannot find a job close enough that pays enough money. I am looking for a job as an on line tax preparer, but don't know how to find one. Can anyone help?

Contact all your local CPAs (hand out your resume) and the Block office, let them know that you are available & can do drop off returns. I could imagine you can be a valuable asset, if you were in a right place! I can understand your situation, as I am stuck in simular situation. I do not think there are much opportunities open for the online tax preparation, because of nature of the business. Good Luck!

I doubt if there are a lot of online tax preparers. There is software easily available to do that. The value of having a person prepare it is the ability to sit and talk to them, something that would be pretty tricky online. IM'ing just isn't the same.

Why don't you start your own business?
Make business cards and hand them out, put them up at the local community centers, etc...
