I'm looking to start a computer service business in South Carolina, and I'm on the fence between choosing an LLC vs. a Sole Proprietorship. What would be best from a tax standpoint?

I’ll initially be working for myself but might eventually hire employees.

This business will be my only source of income, and the main expenses will be advertising (~$2,000 - $10,000) and software purchases ($1,000). The business should bring in about $50k gross the first year.

I will initially be working with home computer owners, although I would like to expand to service other businesses once the company has gained a reputation.

If I’m leaving out important details, please ask and I’ll add them.

Thanks!

I'm single, 29 years old, and will be making $63,000/year. I have been getting a variety of responses from friends and family so I'm getting confused as to what is appropriate. Do I enter "1" for both A and B or just A or just B? (Most people have told me to enter "1" for B only).

A) Enter "1" for yourself if no one else can claim you as a dependent

B) Enter “1” if:
● You are single and have only one job; or
● You are married, have only one job, and your spouse does not work; or B
● Your wages from a second job or your spouse’s wages (or the total of both) are $1,000 or less.

Hello. I originally did my 2004 tax return with H&R Block in 2004. I didn't receive notification that for some reason, the return was never finished by H&R Block, and that because of it, I owed the state (CT) money until May of this year. I took it to H&R Block, they gave me an amended copy and I sent it to the state. I got another letter saying the same thing. I took it back to H&R Block, then they called the state, and told me that I would have to send in my W-2's from 2004, and that would resolve it. I went through my company's payroll, and got the W-2's, then sent them in. I still got another letter. I went back to H&R, who scheduled me on a RI holiday, when the offices are closed so they couldn't call the state, and they said to call back. I called and spoke to this guy who said he would have someone call me, and that he would then personally call me, but no one called. I went back to H&R, and they tried to call the state, but no one answered so they said they would call me.......

Someone told me today that we can claim $3200 tax credit b/c we have a disabled child. Is this the same as just claiming medical and depend. care expenses or is this a separate credit. I couldn't find anything I could understand on the IRS site.

After filling out my information for financial aid with my school, they caught a mistake I made on my tax forms where I transposed a couple numbers on my income. This resulted in me taking $144 from the IRS. I'm filing a 1040x and going to pay the amount, but I'm worried that the IRS is going to think I was being fradulent and take our EITC away this year. Does anyone have any experience with a problem like this?
