If it's all from a job where social security and medicare has been taken out, you'd get back all your income tax withholding if you made under $5350 if you are a dependent, $8750 if you aren't. You won't get the social security and medicare back though.

If you are Single and no one can claim you as dependent, then there won't be any federal tax if your income is $8,750. But if your only income is $8,750 and it is earned income (from wages), then you will get a check for $260 plus any federal tax withheld from your paycheck. The amount $260 is earned income credit.

And if your only income is earned income and is near about $10,200 then your EIC will be almost equal to your federal tax on $1,450 ($10,200 - $8,750). So you will get 100% federal tax refund if your earned income is $10,200.
