My father wants to claim me & my child on his taxes; however, I was previously told that the parent I was living with could not do that. Doesn't that affect my tax filing status? What does that do to my return?

i did my income takes online and it only cost me $10, but i hear that other people are paying $200 to file theirs and that is outrageous to me!! anyway i told my cousin about taxactonline.com and she was like "well i want to check out different places to see if i could get more money back"....so my question is: how come when you go to certain places, you get more or less back then you would have at a different place?? shouldn't you get the same amount back regardless of where you go to file?? i don't get this. help!!

Is this True about the IRS and Section 861?

http://www.3rdear.com/861info/

VERY compelling.

At least 4 CPA's and about 7 attorneys discuss the IRS Code and the questions they asked.

Please do not answer until you have seen the presentation.

Otherwise, why should I believe your answer more than the CPA's and the Attorney's answers?

...bigger pay checks...no tax returns...

A much smaller IRS would be needed--downward pressure on taxes.
Less Accountants would be needed--downward pressure on the costs of goods.

I am filing using Turbo Tax online--the free version. And the part where you can make education deductions is confusing. It asks for your education related expenses. I have two 1098-Ts. On the first form Box 1 (payments recieved) has nothing and Box 2 (amounts billed) has $1300. The second form Box 1 has $5000 and Box 2 has nothing. They're the opposite. So what I did was I added up the Boxes 1 & 2 of both forms and used $6300 as my "education related expenses." (And then it subtracted scholarships and grants.) Since I did that I am getting an outrageous return that's too good to be true. Did I do right? So, I guess I'm asking if I'm supposed to add Boxes 1 & 2 together of 1098-T.

I bought my house in nov 2005. During closing in nov 2005, the seller paid me say $3000 for the tax she owned from Jan-Nov 2005.

In May 2006, I got the house tax bill of say $3500. I paid that amount.

Now in Feb 2007, when I am filing my income tax returns, do I put $3500 for tax paid or do I say I paid $3500-$3000 = $500?Please advice.

Some of my friends tell me that seller paid me in 2005. That is history. I paid my house tax in 2006. And since I am filing income tax returns for 2006, I should put what i paid in 2006. Which is $3500.

I feel that is wrong both ethically and legally.

Please advice.
