You are lucky.. yes your Father could claim you for this year, after your last Bday no more claims you are on your own . Best of luck!!!

There are two types of dependents: qualifying child, and qualifying relative.

You were too old to be claimed as a qualifying child - would have had to be under 24 as of the end of the year. But if your dad provided over half of your support for the year, then yes he can claim you as a qualifying relative if your gross income was under $3300. He'd get a $3300 exemption for you - the actual dollars that he'd save in taxes depends on his tax bracket. For most people would be around $500-$800, but could be more or less, even zero, depending on his other tax items.

yes your father can claim you. although you are no longer a "qualified child", you are a "qualified relative". this is assuming you did not earn more than $3,300 and your father provided more than half your support. there is no age limit for a "qualified relative" to be a dependent.

He can't claim you because you were considered age 25 for the whole year.

Don't listen to "Silvia" & "TMA" They are WRONG! See page 10 in TMA's link - it proves they are wrong
