I have been told that I may "charge rent" to a non profit organization if I hold ameeting in my home and that the "rent" need not be reported as income for tax purposes. In turn, if I "donate" the "rent" to the non profit I may take a tax deduction.

While discussing on service tax (30a- section65)"construction of complex" - it was mentioned that service tax is applicable only on "contract of construction". Can I get a link to reference document from tax dept where it is clearly mentioned ? Where are the "taxable services" defined. At ttp://www.servicetax.gov.in/ no-where word "contract" was mentioned. I remeber that there is petion filed by Builders Association -has court provided decision on that ?

Hi,
I'm santosh and I'm an Intra-day share trader. My trading capital is Rs.70,000 and on average, per month I'm able to make a profit of Rs.10,000.
So, for a year, my annual income from share trading is Rs.1,20,000. I donot have any other source of income.

Can you please tell me how do I calculate my taxes? Please do remember that I'm "intra day trader" and do not invest for long-term or even more than 2 days.

It seems unfair to pay tax on something that is a basic need for living. Should not it be a deduction from the income? At the very least for that part of the paid rent that is equal to a minimum rent for that area for a family or individual?

I have a scenario where a husband generates income for his wife by trading online. Now can the wife pay a salary to husband for the service provided by the husband.

Also if the husband includes this income in his tax return, can the wife expense the salary from her income ?

Finally if the husband generated Rs 1 Lakh in profits, what is a reasonable amount to pay as salary to Husband ? 5% of profit (= Rs 5000) or 10% profit = Rs 10,000 ? What is the MAXIMUM possible salary possible in this case ?

Im preparing my best friends taxes online using Turbo Tax and I ran into some news. I was wondering if you could tell me if she qualifies for EIC...She is 20, Single, (non HOH), and has 1 dependant (son 2 yrs old), from entering all of her W-2s she had a combined income of about 19000 including some unemployment, but she didnt pay much into her withholdings, therefore I thought she would owe some but by claiming her son as a dependant she was given the Std $1000 deduction, thus she was given a refund of 549. Later in the questionaire EIC came into play and using the simple tool provided she qualifies and her sone qualifies...Is this true...the software gave me some numbers and it looked like a refund of $2120. Does this sound about right? Is it the 549 or 2120? What special papers are needed for her to used the EIC (if needed).

I notice I sent out the wrong W-2 forms when I filed my Federal income tax. Are there consequences for sending the wrong form? Does it matter which one you sent out. All the forms have the same numbers. I never notice that each W-2 form has to go to a certain place. Please Help.
