I think that IHT boundary should be where it is at. All, it actually needs is a caveat to say £285,000 or the value of the principal property WHICHEVER the greater [i.e. if the house is £16M you can pass it on but any other assets will be required up to cover the tax bill up to the value of 40% minus the allowance - so if you've only got £1 in savings to go with the house you would have to pay that but nothing else as your IHT bill].

There are no official plans for it. we need the country to demand it. and abolition of stamp duty below £1m.
