It seems unfair to pay tax on something that is a basic need for living. Should not it be a deduction from the income? At the very least for that part of the paid rent that is equal to a minimum rent for that area for a family or individual?

You actually get charged an extra tax on top of your rent?? Like sales tax?? That's weird. Homeowners pay property tax every year and that should be included in your rent. The stupid voters of California voted for an increase in property tax a few years ago not realizing that the tax would get passed on to them (as renters).

Man they would tax the air we breathe if they could i dont like taxes on food either

in washington state we don't have property tax, we have sales tax.. so we get taxed on anything we buy at stores besides food. we do get taxed on fast food restuarants ect ect.. not fresh food...
