HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR TAX REBATES TAKE TO BE RELEASED AFTER BEING FILED?! People say that it usually takes a week after it is filed and or after the due date has been set. So why isn't alot of the 2004 and 2005 rebates out yet? Is there a way for the people to be compensated for this delay?, after all we the people do get penalized for filing late.

The form for the state of CT's w4 has changed so much from 2001 to 2006 the layout isn't even the same! And the tax laws HAVE changed since then so I guess I should just fill out the incorrect form since that's what I've been advised on my federal w4s?? I know federal tax laws have changed as well and I just dont want to be the one getting screwed come tax season because the employer isn't using up to date forms.

If you have just gotten a new job as of today (11/28/06) and the prospective employer hands you W-4 forms from 2001 can you refuse to use them and ask for updated forms or is that grounds for dismissal?

Is there a simple formula to calculate the contractor rate that equals the full time employee compensation? I understand that the contractor must pay Personal Employment Tax and their own insurance, but am not certain about those costs.

Let me know if any additional info is needed for an approximation of the formula used to identify the cost/benefit of going 1099.

Hi Tax Planning Gurus,
Need help for 2006 Tax Planning . I have an S-corp and need to do some Tax planning before this year(2006)end. I already have a SEP account which is giving me some Tax-free money. Anyone knows about other tools/accounts(Plan 529 for one..thinking about this one) which can save taxes for 'Small Business' / Self-Employed. Any help in this regard is greatly appreciated in advance

If I sell an item (in this case several copies of a book) to a non-profit, tax-exempt entity, I assume I cannot charge them tax. Is this true? Secondly, do I still have to pay the state what the tax would be, dispite not collecting it?

Example: Book cost = $11.95
(Pennsylvania) Tax = $0.84

Buyer pays $12.79
I pass on the $0.84

Tax emept buy pays 11.95
I pay out of pocket $0.84 or not?

I have $200 capital gain in stock market. Do I need to report it to IRS? Is there a minimum amount of gain that require reporting to the IRS?

Why does IRS only look at the price of stock sell but not the price of purchase? The tax me $4200 for the sellings x share of stocks. I show them the actual price of purchase and indicate a net loss. The IRS ignore me sent me a warning letter.

Does the IRS need money desperately right now?

Would any of the following methods work? do you have any other suggestions?

1.) Sell rooms separatly (staircasing) insuring that the profit from each room was too small to atract tax.

2.) Giving house away as gift & receiving gift from buyer.

3.) Doing cosmetic damage, selling the rights to the house above market value then undoing damage.

4.) sell house below cgt threshold on condition that buyer also purcheses fixtures & fittings at seperate extortionate cost.

5.) starting a sole trader estates agent (in britain there hardly regulated at all) and valuing your property below cgt level, selling at market value & taking rest under table
