I had a roth ira several years ago in my mid-twenties. Unfortunely, during that time I had invested the money in Enron stock. The Roth went bust.
About 6 years later, I had started a new Roth IRA. I think I already know the answer to this question, but it never hurts to ask-
Can I put in more money (other than the 3,000) into my new IRA to make up for the loss of my old one? Afterall, for tax purposes, I can prove I once had an existing Roth IRA. Or would I get into trouble if I tried?
Thank you...

My wife will inherit her deceased father's stock portfolio. Based on brokerage statements, there are substantial unrealized capital gains. Will my wife's basis become the FMV of the investments as of the date of death? Any recommended web sites explaining the relevant code?

If so, if you have a condo that is a cashflow property, does that count? Say that I fix up a condo and sell it for X amount of dollars, if I buy another condo just like it that is not updated, does this count under the 1031 exchange?

I am not concerned about how each county or municipality calculates the amount, just when they are initialy due, and if they are collected once or twice per year.

Main concern is how the income under various categories is interpreted ? for example: Paid surveys, Paid to click, paid to read emails, Paid forums etc...each one of them represents a different concept in generating on line income.

In continuation: The internet expenses, antivirus protection, software, land line rent r these deductible as allowable expenses for calculating the net income ?

After 20 years in the Military moving from state to state and country to country and after working overseas as a civilian for the last 10 years were ready to settle down and retire. We are now looking for a state to retire to that has low property taxes, not too cold of a climate, reasonably price homes, low crime and a city no larger than 500,000 people. We do not have any kids in school so the school system is not important to us. We lived in Texas and the property taxes are high, also lived in Georgia where the property taxes are not to bad. If we had a $250,000 home in your area what would the property taxes be?

There is a booklet that tells you the percentages for filing for separated, married filing separately or just filing as married. I'm trying to decide what to put on form when I start a new job. I also want to know what percentage they will be deducting from my check so I can figure out my net check.
