I received a tax extension because of various problems. I am in the process of paying my 2005 taxes and missed the deadline because of a lengthy hospital stay.
Last year I received a lump sum payment from Social Security disability for past payment and had to pay the full amount to a private disability insurance for payments I received from them in past years. This amount is not really income because I had to turn it all over to the private company. Can it be declared healthcare payments? Is there anyway I can declare this as a medical deduction of some kind? Is there some kind of deduction I can make? All I was paid this year was a small amount of SS disability because the private insurance company quit paying. I am in the process of a lawsuit with them. I have so many medical deductions I will probably still not have to pay any additional tax but I would like to get a bigger refund than I would receive if I have to use the $18,000.
Thanks for your help.

Is this Legal? He says that there is a gray area..that makes it okay. Is he getting away with anything? He tells me..he only does it because he knows I could use the money. ( I don't think that is his reason) I've never worked at a job like this and don't know how I'm going to pay in at the end of the year. Help!

As a consultant I am paid with no tax or social security, health deductions etc. Due to a shortage of funds, I have agreed to work an extra 5 hours a week for free - or donated time. I am curious when I do my taxes if I can deduct this from my total earnings?

can a business contract in a professional remedial therapist, to treat back pain neck pain or any soft tissue problems, in the office in order to lower the annual sick days taken? People may also have sporting injuries that limit their working ability and these could be addresses inhouse too.

I have a sole proprietorship in the state of California, Small business, no employees. I have purchased 2 vehicles strictly for company use. I have been told by a CPA that I can write off the full purchase price of each vehicle. One of them I bought last year and did not claim it then because another CPA was worried about it causing an audit. This year I want to claim both vehicles at the full purchase price. Does anyone have any suggestions? Possible Audit? Any experience with this?

My business is 2 years old and is not my primary income, I did it mainly for tax purposes in the begining and will make a small profit this year. Claimimg these vehicle will show a huge loss. Any input is welcomed.

I had this job at the beginning of the year for a few months. THe owner shut down and move out of town with no way to get in touch with him. he left me a check for some of what he owed me in wages but i was wondering what will come of the taxes withheld from that job in the spring. i'm guessing i won't have W2 forms from him cause he skipped town. do i just count my losses or is there some danger for me come tax time to leave matters unsettled. the way i see it there isn't anything i can do. i tried taking him to small claims court but it wasn't worth it.

I was thinking of making some extra cash to rebuild my beautiful home here in New Orleans, something along the lines of ebay. From what I gather, you don't necessarily need any sort of license to resell things online, even in bulk. What my question is, is how would I go about filing my taxes and doing all "fun" stuff? Would the state automatically know, or would I somehow have to inform them? I just don't want to goto jail for tax evasion ;)

After the 2005 personal taxes were paid all monies were distrbuted except for $50,000.00. Beneficiares were told this was being held until the IRS cleared the estate for closing. We were told this could take 18 months to 2 years by the CPA for the estate. We have been told by others this should only take 4 to 6 months.
