I have a student loan that has a repayment balance of about $1100. (No, that is NOT my only student loan-i wish :) Right now, I have enough money saved up that I can just pay that loan off altogether, however, it will put a dent in my savings and I haven't touched my savings at all. I would just love to have one less bill to worry about per month. I don't make a lot of money (so much for college) so saving a grand would take some time. So should I pay off and hurt my savings, but leave me with one less bill OR should I just continue making my monthly $50 payments?

I dropped two quarters and a dime in a sewer grate in New York City.

I wrote a letter to Alan Greenspan 2 months ago but have not heard back.

I have inherited around 8,500 in cash which will be coming through shortly (probably this week) also a house but there is a charge on the house for a third share so i will be left with around 50k so about 55k once i have had a couple of treats. I have 10k debt so need to pay that off. My dad owns a few houses ad has some with mortgages of around 50k so he has offered to sell me one but hime keep an interest in the property e.g if i buy one for 50k but its worth 100k we would own the house 50-50, good idea but I'm not really very settled at the moment and am thinking about a career change because i'm a receptionist on£6.25 an hour and bored out of my mind. please help.
Thanks in advance

I am considering moving into NYC from NJ. And I'll still be working in NJ. I hear a lot of rumors about paying double income taxes and such. Can someone clear this up for me. I would like to know exactly which state or both gets my income taxes. Thanks in advance. -Joe

Hi all, I made a recent error with my checking account. I wrote a check with the specific instruction not to deposit until I called back with authorization. Well, the person went ahead and deposited the check which overdrew my account ($-1500.00).

As a result, the check was paid and 9 other smaller transactions were also paid... but, I received $330.00 in overdraft charges.. Also, when I made my next large deposit, my bank put a stupid 10 day hold on the funds which leaves my available balance still in the hole.

It seems their policy is to process large transactions first and the smaller transactions second, which is an obvious case of racking up as many overdraft charges as possible... Needless to say.. after 17 years of banking with this company, I amd sick and tired of their greed and lack of compassion.

Is there a banking institution that is less expensive and more understanding that sometimes errors happen? If so... I will switch banks in a heartbeat

Has anyone ever applied for a credit card and had it accepted... waited and waited but no credit card? Then you get a statement saying you have bought all these goods when you never even received your credit card?

We both went to my financial company and he had a cashiers check for the amount of the car. The cashiers check was a loan check so the title would transfer over to his bank. I got a phone call from my finance company and they left a message saying it was important regarding the check that my buyer had. I released liability on Sept. 2nd.
Now my question is would they come after me for any reason if the check was bad or if there was an issue with it even though the buyer was with me and personally signed the check over to my finance company, am I still liable for the car?

My credit scores is not great but far from worse. I think one of the reason that's driving my credit score in the mid range is because few of my credit cards is near their credit limit. I was told if I pay off more than 60% of the balance then my score shall improve because it lowers my debt ratio? Is this true? How long will it take to bring my scores up? Please Advice!
