Over the years I have had bank and PO savings accounts, etc. Whenever I moved house the books and paperwork went missing. I heard that there were agencies who could help track these accounts down and let me reclaim them. Does anyone know of any? I would hate for the government to take anymore of my hard earned money

I am preparing to start up a small gaming review website that is going to be non profit. (This is a site primarily for personal fun between a few friends.) All the costs are going to come primarily out of my pocket, but I have given thought to possibly accepting donations. The donations would be used for paying for web hosting, web design and buying video games and accessories to be used towards supplying content for the site.

My question is can I legally accept donations for that purpose (Especially the video games and whatnot) and if I can what legal reporting obligations would I need to fulfill?

My husband has been after me to quit smoking, and I agree but it it’s difficult.

Recently, I have had to have therapy for my back and legs, Static Nerves, and it has helped tremendously, I can walk again. My exercise is still limited, however they do have this wonderful low impact machine, that works all over arms, back and legs that they, at the Rehabilitation hospital, offered to me for a fraction of the cost, $1,500.00 If I had it at home I would be able to do small sets several times a day, as apposed to just 10 minutes just three times a week.

My husband manages the finances, and I must admit we are on a pretty fixed budget; not smoking would save about 50.00 per. Month.

It would be very difficult for me to quit just like that cold, I would be able to afford the patch, which I’ve thought about; I would just have to do it! What do you think..

Should I ask ask him and take their offer?

My bank is a pain, it refused to pay a cheque even though there was money in my account to cover the balance of the cheque. They charged me £35 even though I have a letter saying it was their mistake, but the charge is going to stand because of the costs they incurred by refusing payment. I have since researched the UK law and the office of fair trading reported on the 5th April 2006 that the bank charge are wrong because they can not charge more money then what it cost them to deal with the issue therefore they are presumed to be unlawful in the absence of specific proof to the contrary. How do I get my bank to give me back my money seeing that they have stolen it.

All numbers are rough numbers, so the idea comes through better:

I borrowed 20,000 from the government, which I am set up to pay back at 5% interest over the next 10 years.

If I were to lend 20,000 to a bank at a higher interest rate, over the same time frame, wouldn't I be able to use the interest income I earned from the 20,000 I lent to pay off the interest expense incurred on the 20,000 I borrowed?

Of course I would, if I lent at a higher rate than I borrowed. My question to you is: Is this arbitrage possible in the real world?

I think the government should declare a debt amnesty. They're always moaning about the level of personal debt in this country. What they forget is that low wages, extortionate mortgages, exorbitant transport prices, rampant unemployment, high taxation etc. etc. are THEIR fault, not ours, and that the reason people live beyond their means is Government incompetence, not so much personal fecklessness. You cannot live within your means when you're in a part time, minimum wage job.

So I think there should be a debt amnesty. You should be able to take your mortgage, credit card bill, red letters from the electric board etc. to the local police station, leave them all anonymously in a big box, and never see them again.

As for the banks and their profiteering, multi millionaire directors and share holders, I say UP YOURS to the lot of them. If they find themselves running out of money after the amnesty, there are plenty of crap, unsocial hours, minimum wage jobs for them.

I am really desperate, things have really slowed down at work and I really need money to pay off all my bills. I am sixty years old, and should thinking of retiring in the next couple of years, but instead I am looking for a second job, which I have to put on hold while I get a couple of medical issues taken care of. If you know where someone like me can get a loan of at least $15,000 to pay off my debts, please let me know.
