Jim Rogers suggests INVESTING in commodities. But I am not sure how one does that. For example sugar is low priced now and will remain so even into the next year-how does one take advantage of this? Can the method of commodity indexes of passive investing be replicated on a smaller scale by us?Is it possible to buy low and then sell later as with stocks?
NB:Neither Jim Rogers book nor commodity index funds are available where I am.As for ETF there is only an ETF for gold.

Yes, this is a homework question - i've had the month from hell and my masters in is includes 2 business classes [blah - i'm a developer, analyst, mathematician lol not a pedantic rote repetitive business major lol]. my 2 yr old is driving me nuts - broke 8 keys off my laptop earlier but i had a spare dead laptop around and cannibilized it.

anyhow i'm not expecting the answer though that would be nice - at the very least a pointer to a site where i could *easily* obtain an average P/E for the plastics mfg industry as well as an average P/E for the food retail industry.

i need to go take 10 tylenol ... i'll check back in 30 mins for any assistance.

peace & thanks in advance,
x

Is there somewhere related to Investing that would be considered suitable to take a business and investing club, for a day? If the Pacific Exchange would have been in LA, that would have been great, but anything else? I know there are no closer exchanges than Pacific.

i don't mean anything illegal. you see i just turned 18 and i want to trade with the money i saved by jobs i did in the past year. i've studying stocks for more than a year now. but i don't want my parents to find out or else they might get worried or angry and may not let me trade. my question basically is when i trade online, will i be getting anything in the mail or any phone calls. i want to keep this between me.
thank you.

My husband and I keep visiting the idea of trying the stock market. We are both educated people, just not in this area. What is the best, and most economical, way to begin? I don't know if we should find a business in our area that handles this sort of thing, or if we should find something online. I don't want to sink a lot of money into fees for our first go at this. We just want to try it out and see if it's for us. Please help!
