I decided to sell my stock last Sunday (online, through Fidelity) and the current price was around $52.00 a share. The following Monday the stock continued to decline. When I recently looked at my account, I notcied I was only compensated for the shares at around $43.00 a share. If I sold them on Sunday, why didn't I receive Friday's closing price per share? It appears I received compensation for the shares at some price the stock held on the following Monday.

This might seems like a dumb question, but I have always been curious about it. Say you own shares in Acme Tech. The shares plunge from $50 to $30 and news reports do not look good. If you decide to sell, what does that mean? There is someone willing to buy the stock at 30 or 30 was the last price from the latest sale?
If someone has put in a bid for 1,000 shares at 30, does that set the price? But what if several of us decide to sell 30,000 shares at once. How does this work? We might think we are going to get 30, but we only get 10 if we sell at market prices.
I heard in some cases, especially for small numbers of shares, the actual brokerage house will buy the shares and lump them together with other shares or something like that.
I would imagine many investors would be interested in the actual details of how this works......what is the best way to get rid of a stock that is declining and how does this work?

I work in the states, but I live in Canada. It's killing me. My bills are the same, but I'm bringing home less and less. I'm a nurse. Do I go back to Canada for a job where they are paying more, or do I stick it out and wait for the pendulum to swing?

I am a single parent. Both kids have moved out for the time being. I have some credit card debt that I am quickly reducing to zero. Probably will have it all paid off next spring.
I own my home. My car is paid off in 9 months.
Currently my contribution is 10%. Should I go up?

Say an eccentric uncle gave you a million dollars in Exxon-Mobil on the condition you keep the money invested. Would you sell off the Exxon and invest in a spectrum of investment products including mutual funds and safe but low yield bonds or would you keep the high paying apparently stable Exxon (rhymes with Enron!!)

It seems that at least as long as President Cheney is in office the Exxon is almost a sure deal. If you wanted to split the difference what percentage would you move to safer investments ? 25%, 50% 80%?

Just so you know the quetion is purely theoretical and I am asking for a friend with great expectations.
