I know that the will exists as i witnessed it. But i can not remember the name of the person who made and registered this will. All i remember is my father telling me to remember the man who wrote the will for him, and in the event that he should die this man would have his last will and testimont.

The Will will only be a public document once it has been to Probate. Otherwise, it will be in the hands of the person who wrote it for your father and you have no way of finding it.

If he was a local Solicitor, you could visit the Firms in your area and ask if they have the Will.
Much more difficult if he employed a Will writer who has no office base.
A Will must have two Witnesses to the signature; can you remember who the other one was - maybe he or she can tell you who wrote the Will.
I seem to recall that a Witness cannot be a beneficiary - perhaps someone out there can confirm or deny this for Kath.

I'm going to assume dad died and now no-one can find his will ?

In UK there will have been TWO witnesses .. try to locate the other witness (they MUST have been present to see you sign and you must have seen them sign)

... also there may be a problem .. first a Witness must be over 18, and second, no witness can be a Beneficiary (i.e. stand to gain something in the will) - and it sounds as if you were much too young and may well stand to gain ...

"Witness: Two witnesses must see you sign your Will and you must also watch both of them sign it. They must also watch each other sign the Will. No beneficiary (or their spouse) should sign the Will; if they do, any gift to them or their spouse will be invalid and will fail"

Is this in the UK? If so and the will has been proved to probate then it is a public document which you can apply to have a copy of (for a fee). If it hasn't - forget it; after all youe father may not have been telling the truth!
