If you are allowed to invest £3k per year in an ISA and profit the interest tax free, what happens the year after?? Your intrest return say £180 (on average if that) will give you £3180 in your account after year 1, say you invest your limit the next year so there is 6k in your account, is the interest calculated on the 6k tax free? or do you only get a 3k tax allowance? and also, if that is the case and you decide to put your £180 (from year1) into another ISA (in year two) and max the investment potential in this (giving you at the end of year two, two ISAs each of 3k) do you recieve tax free interst from both accounts?

Confusing eh??

I've got some funds (401k) in a company that I no longer work for. I was wondering if I can roll these funds into another 401k plan with my current employer without any penalties or taxes having to be paid. I know I can only contribute $15,500 a year to my current plan and that's why I was wondering if the IRS considers a "rollover" a "contribution" to a plan.

Thanks

Well from Sep 11th the markets came a long way, hitting new historical highs even. Well im a student of dow theory, and i suspect that the bearish market is about to begin. Im thinking if DJI goes below 13,113 , SandP less then 1400 nasdaq goes below2700 it will be a definite signal of a bearish market, your opinions?

Seeing as how Google's shares have crossed the $600 threshold, would it be a wise decision to buy shares now? Analysts predict that Google's price per share could reach $700 next year. What do you guys think, should I or should I not buy shares?

For stocks, do you just buy them and hope that they go up in value? I heard that some stocks pay you money annually just so you have them. What about index/mutual funds? Also, could you give examples of such stocks/funds.

is this a universal truth? just because a stock price is lower is it easier for it to increase substantially? assuming the company is healthy and all variables between companies are similar.

Ever notice how CNN, FOX, etc. comes up with an explanation for the stock market rising or falling on a given day? They seem to pinpoint the reason for the change in the market, like "improved consumer confidence in stock 'x'" caused a 200 point gain, then the next day they'll tell you that "continued housing woes" made it drop like 300 points - as if investors didn't know that the housing market is dismal already. Where do these explanations come from? How reliable are they - thoughts?

Like the S&P 500, since it goes up and down with the market. Is the strategy of an "index and a few" (few refering to stocks) a good way to invest? How should a moderate-higher risk investor invest? Also, since most mutual funds underperform, why should you invest in some(or not)?

A good friend of mine has an uncle that owns a company that manufactures canned and frozen vegetables. They are currently being inspected by the FDA and my friend says that if they find a few secretly known serious code violations, then the company will likely shut down (obviously decreasing the value of the stock) for an indeterminate period of time.

I have a lot of stock in this company and right now it's going up, and he says I should ride it until about the 17th and then sell it all. Then, after the company nosedives buy it back. It really does sound good when you first think about it, but I'm wondering if there are any hidden dangers here I should avoid. I really don't want to lose any money in this whole thing.

Anybody have any ideas?

My hubsand works for Lowes. He gets paid every other week. 10 percent of his check goes into their employee stock purchase plan. Every 6 months whatever he has paid into the espp lowes matches some of it then buys the stock for him. My hubsand plans on staying with Lowes for the rest of his working career. He has a good job with them and he is moving up in the company. Right now he is just a delivery driver, but he is one of the highest paid. They have already talked with him about moving into management. He has to go through some training and he knows that. He thinks putting money into the stock purchase plan every pay check for the next 30 years till he retires will be what we use to live on after we retire. Is this true? Right now he has roughly 3000 dollars in stock with lowes. And that is just from Nov of last year and May of this year. Do you think he is doing the right thing or should he be taking the money and putting it into a savings account that draws intrest?
