So I've been watching this currency drop, and drop, and drop. Why is everyone saying "dont' invest in it, you'll lose your money!" I've seen nothing to that effect.

I'm interested in investing a $30,000 inheritance I'll be receiving soon, but I don't want to stick it on a account. I want to risk it for a high return. I currently have a savings account with about $10K in it.

In terms of debt, I don't have any (I still live with my parents). I only have my college loan (which I still owe about $12K) and my credit card, which I'm currently paying off. Overall, I want to invest most of the inheritance myself (no third-party brokers, planners, etc...)
With that in consideration, what percent should go to stocks, mutual funds, and to the bank? I don't want to put that much into the bank because the interest is horrible.

Thanks.

I am 25 years old and I just opened a Fidelity Roth IRA. I am contributing $200/month. Does anyone have any suggestions on what funds/bonds I should invest in? And can I buy them now with only $200 or do I have to wait until I build up more money?

Sometimes I wonder what would happen if I could magically see into the future (like in the TV show about the guy who got tomorrow's newspaper) and trade stocks. Would the SEC notice and investigate if I kept making fantastically well-timed trades in numerous different stocks?

I have no experience in purchasing stocks, bonds and mutual funds other than my employer's 401k deal. I signed up with Etrade.com and have considered purchasing some Apple stock to make a little bit of dough. But I've been told that I've already missed the initial stock lift from the iPhone hype. At the same time, once the iPhone is released, I'm afraid that stocks will skyrocket and I will regret not buying. Any thoughts? ~thanks
