I was under the impression that the relevant companies would give me a cash amount for what has accumulated over the years. But I've been told that I would need to sell my shares in order to get the proceeds. If I do need to sell, is it worth it? The shares are related to utility companies.

Ive been thinking about buying abroad, places to let out, but dont know how secure that would be, or doing property development which I know nothing about! Ideally, I am looking for something to bring in about £600 per month, is there such a way of doing this, with that amount?

The stock is worth near $100 which is about as high as I have seen it get, so I don't see leaving that money in that stock as gaining me anything.

My grandfathers Financial advisor has told him that when he reaches 90, he has to change his investments for tax reasons,. He said something about fedral gov. will force distribution... something like that. AND, that he may only have 10, 000. in the bank (combined check and savings). He had to not renew a CD, because it was not in the right type of account for him. Is this legit?

I received a few savings bonds growing up in the early-mid 1980's. Any estimate on what they would be worth now??

My wife and i are saving for a small town house, but we currently have the money in a regular savings account where we only get $35 interest every 3 months. And i hate the way the tellers look at me when i add to the amount. They keep saying "Why do you have your money in a regular savings?" I always give them the same answer "We need it soon, to buy a house". We are looking to buy a house after next year tax return, or sooner. Is there an extremely safe & bonded investment that i can put this money for the next six month to at least give us something better than $140.

Please advise respectfully.
Thanks
JI

I've heard this theory multiple times: that prior to 9/11 there was a lot of "shorting" of airline stock. In case you don't know, "shorting" means you borrow the stock and sell it with the promise you'll bring it back to the original owner. You are betting the stock will drop.

Of all the conspiracy theories I've heard about 9/11, this one seems the easiest to verify or debunk, since every day zillions of bits of data are printed regarding the stock market's every twitch.

So... does anyone know if anyone has looked into this? If so, please provide a link.

The theory goes that someone made a ton of money, but still hasn't picked it up yet.

Please let me know if you have a link to someone who has actually looked at the data.

I am doing like a business assignment and I needed to know if Rothmans is a good place to invest. Their net income has increased from 93.5 - 99 (from 2005-2006). However their dividends paid went up by 157%. I am not sure if that is a good thing or bad thing.

Net sales= +2.4%
Oper. Exp= +0.25%
Interest Exp= -11.5%
Cap. Assets= +10.3%
Total Assets= -15%
Long term liabilities= +6.1%
Total Liabilites= +0.12

Those are some of the information I gathered from a research.

Is there anything drastic that could happen to the money I have invested in a company on the American stock market. Obviously I have a mental stop loss in place but could anything happen that could make my money rapidly disappear overnight?

Dollar cost averaging is an approach that can help reach our investment goals.

Do you have any progams in Canada - any institution provide that? I understand that it is available in US
