There's a website you can use to find the current value. Savingsbond.gov. They have a calculator, you type in the info from your bond and it will tell you how much it's worth, the next date it accrues interest, etc.

$500 is most likely , the value at maturity , not what you paid .
Early redemption would be less than the face value but your bank would know its current value .

there arfe two kinds,paper and electronic..
paper is sold at 1/2 the face value...electronic is sold at face value.....
go to the bank and ask them........
