I already have a pension with my employer. However, I was thinking about opening my personal IRA. From everything I've reveiwed, it appears to be a good deal for the middle class. Is there any catches with it? How do I manage it? I'm not sure how to invest in it. Can I do it myself, or is it best to have a professinal do it for me?

I am talking about Exxon, Total fina and BP, will their stock prices rise or fall in the next month? Typicaly they dip a bit at the start of spring and then jump during driving season starting May.

I'm in my 20's, with plenty of time until retirement. I've already decided that I'm going to have 100% equities for now (no bonds or cash). However, I'm not sure how to divide my contributions up among the various mutual fund options. Here are my choices:

-Vanguard Institutional Index Fund (VINIX, S&P 500 Index fund)
-T. Rowe Price Blue Chip Growth Fund (TRBCX, Large-cap
Growth fund)
-Vanguard Developed Market Index Fund (VDMIX, Foreign Blend
fund)
-Vanguard Extended Market Index Fund (VEXAX, Mid/Small-Cap
Blend fund)
-AllianceBernstein Value Fund (ABVIX, Large-cap value fund)
-Goldman Sachs Structured Small-Cap Equity Fund (GCSIX,
Small-cap blend fund.
-Barclays Global Investors Int'l Active Fund (Can't find the
ticker symbol)

I'm no expert, but I'm not too high on the ABVIX or GCSIX funds. They seem young and unproven. I couldn't find any info at all on the Barclays fund.

How would you experts distribute my contributions among those funds, and why?

It's up, it's down. Basically, my company matched 401k has basically been the money from me + the money from the company. The interest is nothing to write home to mom about! I'm diverse too, with most in a 2040 fund, and the rest in bonds, euro/aisa (I know that sucks now), and large-cap. I can only choose what my company offers. I just don't see how any of this will work in the future. I'm 27 years old, and I feel that retirement will be a forgotten word, especially if SS is non-existent also.
