My savings pays 4.5 apy and I have 3700.00 in it. If I took it out and bought a mutual fund would I make more in dividends after all is said and done like taxes and management fees? I dont want to get into buying and selling stocks all of the time but would like a more long term stable investment that makes a good return.I want it to grow more than fall but I know my dividends should stay the same cause they are paid per share but will the same amount of money pay more in dividends than my simple interest?

I was looking for a lender to lend me 8 million to pursue a publishing contract with Yahoo. I was thinking of using google adsense for a front untill my real websites start receiving a buzz. Seriously which lender would be interesting in a sure fire guareenteed winning idea.

Christ if I can't make it profitable in 3 months no one can and I have help. Any real answers on funding because I am not getting any real business people in this sad little town. Only blind bankers with no arms legs and no vision.

Are these always shares that other people are selling that day -- is it a zero-sum game? Or where else can these shares come from? Does a company determine a cap for what portion will be owned by shareholders? Is there a limit to the number of shares one can buy? I'm asking more conceptually than practically (e.g. I realize some funds have top and bottom limits.). Also, I'm most interested in smallcap stocks, for argument's sake. Let's say I buy 500 stocks in a company with a market capitalization of $1 million. If each stock is $10, what exactly am I buying?

I was wondering how you read a stock ticker for a stocks gains/losses.

I was researching a stock today and it opened at $48.71 per share. I was tracking it this afternoon and the profile said that it last traded at $48.58 per share. At the bottom they showed the change in price in the following manner:

Change: -.13 (.27%)

What does the .27% mean? I know that it must somehow be calculated by dividing .13 by 48.71, but what exactly does that mean? At first, I thought it meant that the stock was down 27%, but that would be wrong because .13 is not 27% of 48.71.

Please help, I'm stumped!!

Say, for example, I have two million dollars to invest and I buy two million dollars worth of shares of a company. If this company is small and I now own around 5% of the company, will my purchase of two million shares most likely increase the price of the stock?

I want to start investing in the stock market but I don't have a large sum of money to start an account. Does anyone know of any websites that do not require a large amount of cash to start an account and get trading? I just don't have 2500 bucks to start an account at fidelity and I really want to experiment with the market just a bit. Not 2500 bucks worth. Thanks for the Help.

I've heard various Wall Street reporters use the term "buy programs" to explain market movements such as "the Wall Street buy programs kicked in and moved the markets higher". Are these automatic programs that Wall Streets firms use to buy stocks?
