I read IRS pub 590 and I am confused if Roth max contribution is $4,000 for a couple or $4,000 each filer, i.e. $8,000. Would appreciate expert answer.

I have been investing in Mutual Funds for several years. I always put money in, and never take it out. I have never seen a statement that indicated any amount of money being removed from my account for "operating expenses". But I know the Fund company collects somehow. Where do they get their money? When I withdrawl? Or do they take a little of the profits of the Funds themselves.

I thought shorts drove down the price, but I read somewhere that if there is a lot of short interest in a stock, and the stock rises, then the shorts covering will rise the price higher.

I have a home located in the islands. I need to sell this house ASAP so I can pay bills that I am behind on. My question is this the house is worth lets say 260 dollars (hypothetical), I have a serious buyer ready to sign and close tomorrow for 180. I paid 220 dollars for the house. In addition I have to "liquidate" the renteres that are in the house so they will get out. I have another offer for 210 dollars, I would not have to ask the renteres to leave, and they will give me an answer by 10:00 a.m. tomorrow. At 10:00 am the first buyer will be on a plane to the US to finalize the deal. I really need the money to support my family and to invest for our future. and there is a 50 dollar diffrence. What would you do. You have to sell, because your family's situation depends on you. It could be months before another buyer shows interest. What should I do.

I have a traditional 401k through my job. I started taking out pretax money including my after tax money in my 401k. Is taking out pretax dollars from your 401K the same as a ROTH IRA? I live in Philadelphia, if that helps

Have you thought of the following

Okay, the winning odd is 14 million to 1 in winning lottery.
How often does it have more than 2 winners? If you have 14 million dollars, you will have a sure win situation, just buy all the tickets. Plus, the jack pot will be more afterward, and you may get 2nd/3rd prize as well

Of course, there is a chance of sharing your fortune with others. but that is a win win situtation.. what do you think if you are a rich person.... (NO need to invest on stock and bonds)
