I want to set up a great restaurant in London, a casual affair based around fresh, local and British produce. Great quality wares in a comfortable 'stay all night' sort of atmosphere. Brimming with ideas, require about £250'000... I'll consider loans, equity shares or just donations. If push comes to shove, I'll consider marriage!

I have an online brokerage acct that I handle myself (but I'm brand new to it - it's TD Ameritrade). Can I buy gold through something like that? Is it just like going into a pawn shop or something and buying broken gold? Is it buying gold certificates?

I hear all the time that gold is a good investment - but I don't know if a) that's true or b) how to do it.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I've held Westjet shares now for some time and noticed that they have started to move higher. A freind of mine mentioned that the institutional investors have taken note and that it will move higher. I picked up my shares at $10, it's very likely that they will head higher than $20 (their previous support level). People are travelling more now, WestJet is benefiting from fuel surcharges, and they just released some surprisingly strong earnings. What is a realistic price for me to sell at ?

I am new to trading options and have a few basic questions.

1. If an option is selling for .15, that means it is 15 cents for the contract to put/call 100 shares right?

2. If I buy 10 contracts of .15, how much will that order cost?

3. I know options can be traded before expiration, however, what is the volume like? On a small cap, that sees significant movement [3%+] in favor of my option, will I be able to unload it that day should I see fit?

4. I'm looking at an options chain for SNDK today. The $52.5 Nov-06 call last trade was .50 cents, with a volume today of 619. Does that mean that only $309.5 was traded in this option today?

thanks all!

I recently attended a seminar on how to buy stocks, the InvesTools company method, is based upon Trends, MACD, Stocastic analysis and News reports displayed by a chart on a computer screen. The analysis reveals to the investor as to when to buy (green arrow) or when to sell (red) arrow a stock.

Are there other stock trading companies who offer similar instructions?

And are these systems reasonably reliable?

I'm planning out my 2007 contributions. I'm going to put in 4k right away in the beginning of the year, just not sure what to invest in.

Right now I have a little over 4k in an international real estate fund (started in 2006).

I have three children oldest is 10 youngest is one, I need to make money fast and bend into a long term portfolio. I know little to nothing about investing, under any circumstance?

For a $100,000 investment money and 8 to10 year time horizon, is it better to buy 2 houses in Houston (each at 20% down) or a S&P index fund is a better alternative?

The gain from the investmnet will be needed for children's college education after 10 years.

After what happened in the stock market, it makes most people wonder if they can count on the money to grow even in a 8 to10 year period. I know that managing rental investment is no fun but one would make money (at least won't lose principal) over 8-10 year time horizon.

I know there are tons of books that say real estate is the best investment. But is it really? specially for the middle class.

Are there any other investments (passive) ideas to get 8-10 % annual return over a 10 year period?
