How is the stock market in comparison to playing High Stakes Poker. I used to play high stakes poker and I am used to the ups, and downs of winning big, and losing big. Would the transition to the Stock market be pretty much the same or is it more stressfull or less? Basically is the Stock Market more Risky then Playing High Stakes Poker?

If I deposit $50000 into my bank account will they charge me tax?
I have kept my money in the deposit box for 5 years.I saved about 50.000 and now I would like to invest it in mutual funds. Are they going to question me in the bank where I got this money from? Will they charge me tax? Will they investigate about it? I pay my taxes every year. How can I prove them that I saved that money.

Hi,

Can anyone explain in simple language what the main differences between the two are, and which one would represent a better investment for someone who would like to make small regular contributions over the long term and prepared to accept a small element of risk.

In addition, what type of fund is good at the moment e.g. trackers, emreging markets, IT etc? There seem to be so many to choose from!

Many thanks

I don't know much about mutual funds, but I'm told if I were to invest 100K over 10years there would be about 400-440K. This was assuming roughly a 15% return per year. I was told this is on the side of a non-aggressive fund. Or is this probably an aggressive fund? So, in a nutshell...I would like to invest this money somewhere for about 10 years until I'm ready to buy another home...

Basically I am in my 20s and I have gotten interested in investing some of my money now in hopes maybe I can start saving something for my future. I have looked into stocks I purchased some through direct purchase programs.

I started looking up information on mutual funds but got lost so quick. And I think T. Rowe and companies like them have a minimum of 5,000 to get their advice and etc.

So I was curious if anyone out there knew where I should look for decent investments.
