I was reading some info on http://gold-news.org/ and I see a rather compelling case for investing at these levels. Is anybody else taking a position in the gold market right now?

Do any of you recommend EmigrantDirect.com? and if so why and do you have your money with them? Do you think it is the safest and best place to put your savings? They advertize 5.05 annual percentage yeild, so if I put 20,000 in their bank, what would I have in 12 months? How does it work?

I want to start doing a few deals in covered call options, but I have no clue how it is done:

1) Do all brokers deal in them or only some specialist ones?
2) What is the jargon used in this business?
3) How do I place the order, ie what do I tell the broker?
4) How far ahead can I sell?
5) What are the typical charges
6) Can I sell any number of shares or in fixed lots?
7) How much will I receive if the share price goes down and the buyer does not buy? and when will I receive it?
8) What is the logic behind call options? ie why should any one undertake to pay a higher price in 3 months (say) when he can buy for less now?
9) Anything else I should know?

Im in my late teens, and I have about a grand to my name in a checking account. Lately, Ive been thinking about taking a very very small portion of that, and investing it into stock. Fun, successful stock, like Coke or Disney, nothing risky, so i can make a profit. But how do I go about doing that? Do i need to meet with an investor?

Also, even though im slowing building up my social security with my job, I want to start a Roth IRA and invest a small amount every pay period, for my retirement

Its imporant to me to save money and use it wisely, because I've seen family members deal with tough financial times, and it realy sucks!

HOW DO I GET STARTED? And how do i convince my mom that this is a good idea w/o her thinking im crazy?!
