I just found out today that the stock I own merged with another company. When I tried to sell it online today I wasn't able to. Is anyone familiar with this and how do you get your money, or is it not worth anything now?

i.e. If I do not trade at all I get interest on my money at the brokerage account since they invest it in a money market account or bank deposit.

If I trade and do not close my positions then I will not get interest on the capital used in those positions.

But what happens if I close out all positions at the end of each trading day?

I have 50k to swing trade at a .5% gain per trade day

Example: $10.05 - $10.00 =.05cent
= (.05/10.00 ) 100 = .5% gain

will give me a profit of $250.00 per trade/day
for 20days = $5,000.00

a two weeks pay check will equal :

2wks = 80hrs

$5,000/2= $2,500

$2,500/80hrs = $31.25hr

right now I make 19hr

if , all of this is correct I am retiring at 44 in one year

and what is the commision on $5,000.00 per trade and is there a commision free service or a low transaction fee on-line that I can use versus the broker fee.

I have a (documented) background in Engineering and my idea is very sound and grounded in engineering fundamentals. I'm just hesitant to spend the 10k-15k to patent it. Many of my previously conceived ideas have since been discovered by others and have taken off (not on my patent). I have one idea now that I have absolutely no doubts that it will be big-it's my best idea. It is tremendously practical, useful and basically very simple. If anyone wants to learn a little more about it, please let me know.
FYI- If it matters, I am already a successful business man. The patent process is a long and expensive so I have hesitated to do it. THIS IS NOT A DREAM- it is very practical and could absolutely work. I have not filed the provisional patent yet- plan to soon. Every close friend that I have shared it with- even the most cynical of the lot had their jaws drop and they ALL thought it has tremendous potential- I offer no guarantees but no risk no reward, right?

Hi, I want to explore and learn about investing my money. What are some good ways to start with a small amount of money (ie $1000 -- beginners gotta start somewhere).

I've only researched about t-bills. From my understanding, it seems like you earn about 5% by buying a discounted t-bill. Are there any better options?

Websites, info, tips, and explanations are appreciated.
