I just found out today that the stock I own merged with another company. When I tried to sell it online today I wasn't able to. Is anyone familiar with this and how do you get your money, or is it not worth anything now?

You're probably trying to sell under the old symbol. Your shares were replaced with the stock of a new/merged company with a different ticker symbol. Could that be it?

Yes, it is still worth something. Probably similar to what is was before. If the other company bought yours, then it may be worth more. You simply now own shares of the newly formed merged company. It likely uses the stock symbol of the other company.

Just because it merged is no reason to automatically sell.

Zak the dog is right. No reason to automatically sell. However, if your sell indices are showing, then get out. I like to look at the reasons I first bought the stock. If present still, then Hold.
Good Luck..

Without knowing the stock or the terms of the merger, its impossible to answer this question.

Ask your stock broker, or find info on the merger on line.
The SEC will have all the info.

The reorg department at whatever firm your broker clears through will take care of this. It can somtimes take a little while...ask your broker to get intouch with the right people and give you a time line.

you need to find out what the new company's symbol is and then you should be able to get your money out.
