They tell you that kids dont need insurance because you dont rely on them for income. Do you agree with this? I have heard several people including Suze Orman say this, but I dissagree.

Sure, you dont need $250k on your toddler, unless they are on stage somewhere, but dont you need a policy of some type? Even if its a small child rider on your own. Yes, insurance is to cover financial matters is a loved one passes, so doesnt the unfortunate need of burrying a child deserve the same consideration?

I generally like folks like Suze Orman, but I dont like it when they make blanket statements for all & say there are no exceptions. Because many people would be financially devistated to have to come up with funeral expenses for a child, or anyone else.

It may be hard for her & some others to believe, but some people dont have an extra $10k to burry a child. Its not like you get a child discount like at the movies.

Anyone have any idea how insurance companies figure out what it would cost to rebuild an entire house if it burned down or blew away...I live on long island....I would assume it is the square footage multiplied by a cost per foot....any ideas what the actual cost per foot is today????

out-of-network to see a non-contracted Doctor and the patient has to meet a deductible, can an insurance company apply their fee schedule rates to the deductible, no matter what the Doctor charged the patient, or does the insurance company have to apply to the deductible what the Doctor charged the patient?

For example, if the doctor charges $90 for an office visit, and the insurance company's out-of-network fee is $50, can the insurance company apply the $50 to the deductible or should they apply the $90?

Thank you for your help!

I'm looking for renter's insurance in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and since I have never really had to deal with that, I'm at a complete loss as to who would be the best to look at. I have a modest 2-bdrm apartment that is very interesting in terms of the number of collectibles I have (lost count of how many Bradford Exchange plates I have, lol, plus collectible Barbies, some bought as early as 1999), plus the computer and my cochlea implant equipment.... so it's understandable that I'm looking for insurance, especially in a building that was rumored to have been built in the 1950's. Can anyone who lives in Canada, or Edmonton, Alberta, for that matter, recommend a good company? Especially one that's not too finiky about credit ratings (mine seriously sucks due to an old student loan that vanished, meaning got shifted from one agency to another until I no longer know where the hell it is).

I believe I may have a serious medical condition. I know I should go to the doctor ASAP but I have a concern about my health insurance. My coverage is ok but not the greatest. I may or may not be changing jobs and the new job has much better insurance. Also, I am currently on my wife's health insurance policy and she may be changing jobs in March. How do I know if my possible medical condition would be covered by any new insurance policy? If it turns out to be serious, I may not be able to afford to pay my medical bills if my new insurance carrier chooses not to cover it. What are my options?

During the high winds last week some ridge tiles were blown of a local business premises on to my car. It has caused a lot of damage and so I rang my car insurer to report the incident, I thought they would deal with the matter as I have legal protection on my policy. I've just heard from them and they are not willing to help. What do I do now? I would be very grateful for any constructive advice.
