i am really confused. I am a nursing student who will have completed my LVN/LPN associates in nursing and liberal arts in may of 2008. But I was planning on going on to get my RN, but then I am hearing about a BSN, so here is my question. SHould I bypass the RN and go straight for a BSN? Does a BSN rate the same as a RN, or would i outrank a RN. I really dont want to be a paper pusher at this point in my life, i want to work the floor. I know a lot of places are only wanting RNs. I am realy confused on what to do! Help.

Oh and I can either go for a 8 month bridge RN program or go online to get my BSN from pheonix; i dont know how long that takes!

I want to study to be a medical transcriptionist. I have looked at local schools and I am unable to find one that just focus's on Medical Transcription. All the schools are for working in an office and have alot of un useful things. I don't want to spend money and then not be able to get a job. I wanted to know if anyone had taken an online course and if so how effective was it? Did you get a job? What online school did you attend? I would like to work at home. Anyone with experience please help...

I posted a Q a few weeks back about changing career. Currently a hairdresser but have always wanted to be a nurse. Being a single mum I was a bit daunted about going to uni, lack of money & walking away from the security of my current job. Got lots of positive & encouraging answers from here which was great.
A few years back I worked as a care assistant in a nursing home. I had a chat with my old boss who offered me my job back & told me the company run a scheme where if I work as a care assistant for 1 year they will then sponsor me to train as a nurse. I'd have to work as a nurse for them for 2 years after qualification but I'm happy with that. A few people did mention that it's hard to get a job within the NHS after qualifying so I'm happy to do it this way.
My family are really pleased that I'm taking this first step towards my dream & so am I! So a big thank you to everyone who gave me encouragement.

I need to make a 2nd version of my resume so I can go after jobs outside the medical & veterinary fields but I'm not sure how or what skills to show/minimize so that prospective employers look beyond the medical & animal work. Should I not list what I've done at these jobs & just try to come up w/the things that transfer or what?!

i am possibly interested in going to school for sonography/ultrasound technology.

i need to know what types of courses to expect, and is the courseload very heavy on math/science (not my strongest areas but if it's not TOO intense in these areas i think i can do it)
Also, is it imperative that i take ONLY an accredited program? or is it actually conceivable that i will get a job if i go to a school or institute where the program is not accredited? I've been told that if you take non-accredited classes you have to find work in the field & intern for a year before testing. But does anyone actually do this? I mean is it possible to get a job this way or are those programs just scams? i don't want to end up jobless w/a worthless degree.
if anyone has experience & can give me any insight i would really appreciate it! thanks in advance!

Also, I do realize that I used realize and however way too much in that paragraph. blargh

I'm starting prenursing in the spring, but think i ultimately want to be a respiratory therapist, so I would transfer starting the fall semester... the prereqs are generally the same, which alleviates this problem.. But, the projected growth rate for RTs in Pennsylvania is -5% through 2014! The national growth rate is 21-35 percent in that same time...why is it so much lower here, and will i have to relocate to a different state to find a job? All help appreciated.
