Most correctional facilities have specific regulations that prevent them from hiring people with felony convictions (usually state law). Now there are ways around this (for example being employed by an agency which places counselors into the prison) - now you still will be required to go through a background check which will reveal the conviction - and they may raise concerns about this. Your better bet would be to work OUTSIDE the prison but with those who have been incarcerated - there are lots of other ways of being of service. Also you might look at getting your record expunged..one of my current students is doing this - his conviction was many years ago and he has been clean and sober for many years and has good done much good.

P.S. when you got your BA does not effect the answer.

did the bachelor's degree come before or after the conviction?? That will be the question! But to answer it, I think so, if it is at the prison, and not in public. Don't quote me, but I would think so, at a prison.
