I moved from Houston to Dallas for a better job, I spoke w/ the property manager and told her the situation and she sd that it would be fine as long as I pay the rent or pay $1,800 for breaking the lease. So, I choose the cheaper way and paid monthly. The $ was taken out of my account each month and they changed the locks on my apartment and my mailbox. Which is an illegal eviction from what I found out online. So, I don't know what to do. I spoke to the supervisor( the person over the property man.) and she sd that that didn't sound right and will call me back... of course there was no returned call. I was 2 weeks behind on the rent for July due to a death in my family so I informed them of this and sd I will pay when I come to get my things out of my apartment on 7/30. No one was in the office, maintence wouldn't let me in, didn't recieve any eviction notice and I gave them a typed notice which I have a copy of that I was moving and will continue to pay the rent... What's next?

Im a freelance designer, i do this mainly as a side job to regular work. I have over the past 5 years done work with a design company that essentially hires me on for specific projects. Unfortunately they have never been all that great on paying for my services in a timely manner.
I am now faced with the dilema of collecting payment on many overdue projects, some from 2004. The debt im trying to collect totals up to 5,600.00. So my question is, what would be the most efficient and effective means of collecting this money from them. Also for the record, all of the work done for this client has been on a non contracted basis. All work is invoiced, but there has never been any official contracts written, on either side.
thanks for the help

A friend had his mom put on his title to his house & he's the only son with 4 sisters, but his mom lived with him, She never gave him any money to help with mortgage or expenses, he didnt want her to stay on the strret in case he got married or moved on with his life, he didnt approve of her boyfriend because he didnt help out, (lazy, didnt even work) so she ended up moving out with the boyfriend to an apartment. 800.00 a month, bills, plus a new car note etc. Then he gets a letter from a lawyer stating that she wants HALF of what the house is worth! Because he was nice enough to put her on his title, she is taking half! But my question is... If u claim part ownership arent you supposed to be liable for half of the expenses relating to that property??? How can she get half if she never gave anything to help with the expenses and or mortgage??? I mean how can she turn around and take something she didnt help build? Can she get away with that! Stealing from her only son???

Now that K-mart has went into business with Sears and under a new name, does anyone know if people that were holding the previous K-mart stock before it took the bankrupt law have any rights? I can't seem to find out anything except taking a complete loss on the stock I now have. Would appreciate any knowledge on this subject.

My daughter is a doctor, son-in-law is a pharmacist but has a business which seems not doing too well because of high debts. He could earn more by working as a pharmacist but insists on having the buisness since he likes its flexibility. My daughter works as a doctor so her income is much higher so she wants to help him financially. Besides her own savings, she asks me to lend her money so she can help him to pay off the mortgage (on the unit he bought before the marriage) sooner. Should I lend money to her or not? I am a retiree of average financial means.

Due to a mechanical glitch, my cell phone has been out of commission for a little over a week or so. I finally got a replacement. Since a lot of people haven't been able to get in contact with me since my cell phone has been out, i've been receiving a lot of phone calls now that it's working. Since i'm at work all day, most of these calls come during my work hours. I've been here for over 3 years, my boss is great,&we have a fantastic working relationship. She always tells me about the fantastic job i'm doing. Heres the problem. Today, I forgot to take care of something. So, she came in&reminded me then said "maybe you should have a little less cell phone&pay more attention." I felt horrible! She is totally right,&I know that I need to stop answering my cell phone at work. I have no problem with the reprimand because it is true. My question is, should I apologize, or just let it go? I don't want our relationship ruined. In this situation, do actions speak louder than words?

Have you ever rented a room from someone who owns a home? How did you work out the food storage situation. Did you share a bathroom or have your own? How much did you pay? Did things work out for the better or for the worse? Any comments would be appreciated.
