I have two mortgages that was created when I financed my home to better my credit scores. After about 2 years, both mortgages were to be refinanced into one with a lower rate. The 1st mortgage was at 6 something % and the second at 11%. Recently, my mortgage company only refinanced my largest mortgage that was at around 6% and changed the rate to about 9%. The 2nd one was not included in the refinancing.
It is stated in original papers that both would be refinanced into one mortgage and to a lower rate.
My credit score is only 597 and considered fair. Would it be too early to shop around for another company to get a better deal?
Thanks.

I am 31, not a homeowner, and I want to take 5k of my modest savings and do something productive with it, preferably through a service like TD Ameritrade. What would you do? (The remainder of my savings I plan to use for a down payment on a house when I am ready.)

I'm 26 and up until now have had impeccable credit -- I have 4 credit cards that I've held for between 3 and 7 years, all always paid on time, a mortgage started 3.5 years ago always paid on time, and a couple of car loans that have been paid off. But recently, I was contacted about a bill that I never heard of before, and am being threatened to have a collections agency go after me and post a negative item on my credit report. The bill is $500 and I could pay it, but I feel like this is extortion and I shouldn't play along. If they do post a negative item that I can't get rid of, how much can it drop my credit score?

Hey I just found this website http://www.mysteryshoppernetwork.net which is supposedly a networking place for mystery shoppers. It sounds too good to be true, plus you have to pay a sign up fee. I think it's a scam, do you agree?

I own a sizable quantity of unrestricted founder’s shares in a privately held, well known and successful internet related company. I am interested in selling some of these shares but prefer to shy away from existing investors. Are there any market makers for private stock?
