Makeup - June 2006

I have never really put on make-up on my own or like done the whole thing like foundation, mascara, eyeliner etc. usually if it was a big event I'd have someone else do. So can anyone tell me what the "system" is or what do you start & finish with. and what brands and products are best to use. that would be of great help to me.

I want to buy red lipstick, like the classic crimson you see in all the old movies. But, what shade should I get? Some have more of a pink shade and some are more on the burgundy side. How do I complement my skin tone?
