well to be honest, nothing if your skin is normal.. I mean, define unsuitable makeup? Unless it is out of date, or you have an allergy then the question doesn't really apply.

To answer your other questions,
Oily skin will still be oily - and dry skin will still be dry. It isn't the makeup that damages the skin, it is the cleansers, toners and moisturisers. If you use unsuitable beauty products then skin will worsen.
Get a facial and let the therapist advice you as to your personal skin needs. I recommend Dior, Decleor, Environ or Dermalogica as good brands.

it can make your damage out better. I actually have oily dermis and that i hit upon that my makeup would not very last as lengthy. be effective to cleanse properly and use a toner and prepare powder base for staying power.
