Beauty & Style - 3 February 2007

My daughter's hair is a nice medium ash brown, shiny, and soooo thin. It won't grow long either. She doesn't have any medical problems - just got shortchanged one the hair genes. We buy lots of pink clothes to avoid confusion but still she's occasionally mistaken for a boy. My hair (I'm the mom) is long and thick, her father's is fine textured and receding. Does anyone else's child have hair like this? I've had two different women make comments about her hair - wondering why we would cut it in a such a short shag, and maybe she got some scissors and did it to herself?! It's so thin I can barely keep a barette in it. I'm afraid this may start affecting her self esteem, especially when she starts school. Will it ever thicken up?
And no, I don't make this an issue with her or say anything to give her a complex about it.

I am unattractive from the front but high up there on looks from the side and its bugging the hell outa me. Ive been approached randomly in the street and had girls shouting at me across the street about being "hot".

Problem is I have no confidence when it comes to dating and dont let girls get close anymore because I always have this worry that Ill be seen eventually as unattractive - because technically one half of me is ugly and the other is goodlooking (it has happened once and it was a killer for the confidence).

I have an underdeveloped upper jaw (thnx to a dentist not picking up the problem as a kid) which makes my frontal appearance "weak" - my cheekbones are not pronounced and my face is not symmetrical because of it. Surgery will correct the problem but I dont want to get surgery - cause Im a bloke who should suck it up and get on with things - but think that if its preventing me from being comfortable in a relationship I think I should.

Any thoughts...

I am looking for a mascara that doesn't flake, clump, smudge, take 5 coats to get any length from it, run down my face when my eyes water and is easy to remove. I prefer not to use waterproof. Has anyone found such a beast? does it even exist? Help!
