I have been wanting to work with metals/jewelry for a long time but it seems near impossible to find a class or workshop. I don't have the money to go to CIA and I wouldn't want to pursue a degree in that field anyway. Any ideas? I've already tried searching the internet, but maybe I'm looking in the wrong places.

For my ceramics class, our first project is to make a dwelling of some sort. A lot of people are doing things like beehives, and nests, and teepees and the like. I kinda want to do something that isn't a norm for either humans or animals to be living. The thing does't necessarily need to be living...the teacher said we could do garbage cans, lunchboxes or the moon. It just needs to be something where something else resides. She also said that she enjoys projects that make a statement.

Obviously it would be somewhat hard to make a statement out of a dwelling (at least, I think so...what am I supposed to make, a womb?) but I'd like to do something that has some edge. I was considering an alley (to illustrate homelessness, etc.), but I don't know.

Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks so much!

The pieces that I fuse on shelf paper sometimes get a haze on them and it doesn't occur when I use kiln wash. Bullseye can't give me an answer why this occurs. It occurs at all temps on certain colors. It's not just at the edges but can also be throughout the suface at random spots. I love the convenience of the paper but hate losing good art pieces.

I used sculpey and elastic clay.
sculpey clay is too hard for children. As for elastic clay, which is suitable and good to teach colour mixing, the problem is it's too costy.
Which clay is cheaper?

Every time I tried making a snowman, the first snowball I pick up is too powdery. I tried using snowballs from plowed snowdrifts and even those didn't really work. What am I doing wrong?

In art class we have to make a small amulet out of clay. I'm not really sure what to make...I want it to be something fairly simple, but symbolic.

I think that this is a sterling silver tray made by Roger Brothers. On the back of the tray there is embedded the following information: WmRogers971G (if this will help).

Thanks for your assistance.
