Every time I tried making a snowman, the first snowball I pick up is too powdery. I tried using snowballs from plowed snowdrifts and even those didn't really work. What am I doing wrong?

get a water spritzer. roll the ball, then spritz water from a water bottle onto it as a mist. That will make it melt a bit and make it harder.

warm the water if you want.
