I have been wanting to work with metals/jewelry for a long time but it seems near impossible to find a class or workshop. I don't have the money to go to CIA and I wouldn't want to pursue a degree in that field anyway. Any ideas? I've already tried searching the internet, but maybe I'm looking in the wrong places.

One place you might look is to the south in western North Carolina. You can find Penland and John Campbell School. Whether these two match your needs will depend on what they are offering, which change each year. Also, ask each person you talk to if they can offer suggestions of places or workshops closer to you. You might also look for jewelry or craft conventions or workshops and national associations.
