I produced my own art show last year, which went ok. I'd like to display in an independant coffee shop or a small gallery, but I'm not sure how to make that happen. I'd like to have my art hanging and priced for both exposure and a potential sale or two.

I have a new digital SLR camera and I'm just beginning to explore printing out photos as I have a good grasp on taking them. What minimum resolution do you need for "film print quality" 8x10's? Is there a hard and fast rule, or some group of general guidelines, or a formula, or what? I know I can test it myself and see, but I'd like some heads up before I start. Ideally there's a formula that says "X" number of pixels will print up to "Y" by "Z" sized prints without any loss in quality (e.g. graininess, etc.). Any help out there? Much appreciated.

Years ago, I heard about a piece of equipment that went into the backplate of old SLR cameras (think classic Nikon F1) in place of film. You used the camera just as you would with film, and the piece of equipment captured images digitally, thus combining the best of both worlds -old reliable technology with the ease of digital imagery.

Does such a thing really exist?

I took a photo of the downtown that I live in for a college photography class and now other people want to buy copies of it. But I don't want someone else trying to make money off of my work. So how do I sell my work and put my name on it,or where can I take my work for someone to see if it is worth something .
