I'm not sure if that is exactly what you mean by publish. If you mean in a newspaper, magazine or book that is an entirely different situation. My small city has several small weeklies that print photos from various event around the metro. They are always looking for art. I've seen some really nice photos (and a LOT of really BAD photos). It might be a way of getting a little exposure and get your name in print. However, that by-line doesn't put food on the table. Over time show the editor's that you are dependable and willing to work. After a piece they might offer an assignment. This is good. However, don't do it for nothing. Even if they can pay your gas that's better than nothing.

Good Luck

Try the links below. Deviant Art is a great website where you can network with other artists and even sell your prints. They seem to have the most space. I'm not sure if there is a limit; some people have some really extensive galleries.

All photo hosting sites are going to have limited space unless you're willing to pay. I pay for my photos to be hosted on Flickr and I'm so happy I did. Yes, there's a limited upload capacity each month, but I try not to be THAT prolific. Shutterfly is another image hosting site that looks like it has potential, but also best if you're willing to pay. See if you can get a friend or family member to gift you a Flickr pro account!
