I took a photo of the downtown that I live in for a college photography class and now other people want to buy copies of it. But I don't want someone else trying to make money off of my work. So how do I sell my work and put my name on it,or where can I take my work for someone to see if it is worth something .

You'd have to copyright the item(s). I've never done it ,but I thought It cost $30.

Yes, you must copyright your work. If you have more than one photo you want to copyright, send copies of all to the copyright office along the amount of money need. I thinks it's $30. But this single amount will cover as many photos you want to copyright. If you have a full library, you can copyright them all at one time.

Are you going digital?

If so, all you have to do is open the image in your image editor. Create a new text layer, type in your name, set the opacity to like 50%, flatten the image and then save the image.

If it's a printed item (and not digital) sign the image. I sign all my printed works larger than a 16x20 with a silver or gold pen in the corner. This way people know it was me.

If the picture was taken digitaly, open it in a paint program (Microsoft Paint) and add text. resave and print. If picture is on film take the negative to a photo shop (Walmart, CVS, etc.) and have them put it on disc
