im in a advanced art/digital photography class and its an independant study thing so we dont get assignments and stuff, we just experiment in Adobe photoshop. My problem is that the advanced class was full so im in with the first year digital photography students but im still doing the advanced class things. so, i have no idea what anybody else in my class is doing and if im doing things right. I know that we're supposed to test out tutorials that we find on websites and im at good-tutorials.com every day and im out of ideas! I cant find any good tutorials anywhere and the ones I find are all the same things over and over just doing it a different way... so i need help with 2 things.
1. Does anyone know of any good websites where there are LOTS of GOOD and ADVANCED tutorials? Or do you have a tutorial that you think is really cool that I could try out?
2. Has anyone ever taken a class like this before? an independant study advanced digital photography class? what did you do?

I took a picture last night of my daughter coming from a house, while trick or treating. In the photograph...where there was no lights...strobe or anything but a tree...a transparent figure w/a transparent head that showed that it was in motion -screaming -was behind her. This was done w/ a digital camera. On this entire block...all of the other pictures had a gold flecked line in them..random. On the next block...same lighting...no lines...clear photos.

I had H.P. Image Zone Plus on my computer which desided to stop workiing on me. I found it easy to use ( I am not good with fancy dancy programs). I am looking for a new program to buy that is easy to use, crops, zooms, changes things to jpg, etc. Some recomandations of programs people use would be greatly aprreciated. Since it isn't working anymore I can't edit my picture for printing. I have a Fuji camera ( I do have the software for it but don't care for it). I am not a proffecianal potographer, just a Mom that loves pictures. Thanks.

I have 587 of my parents' old pictures scanned. I did the albums that had pocket style pages, and I’ve been debating how to do the ones in the sticky page albums.

I have two options:

1. I photograph them through their plastic.
Pros: Less work, fewer fingerprints, no risk of damage from the removal itself.
Cons: Photos are still un-safe over time, possibly reduced quality or increased glare.

2. I take them out, scan then, then put them into something else, probably scrapbooks. I’ve been wanting to do a scrapbook where I’d have two copies of some pictures, one with a coloring book filter applied. People could write peoples names into their outlines.
Pros: Photos are safe, people can be identified for us and future generations, scrapbooks are cooler than photo albums.
Cons: Lots of work for something that might just make mom angry instead of happy. Very time consuming. Have to do one then sell her on the idea before proceeding with the rest.

Your input, tips, or additional ideas?

I am an experienced film photographer, and the time has come to aquire a printer to make prints up to at least 8x10. What is most important? Picoliter size? I do not want a printer that makes prints look like they were printed digitally. A Canon rep told me their printers have better resolution than both Epson and HP. True or just sales talk? Any good printer & scanner combos? I have lots or negs and slides I'd like to print up.
