Are there any specific settings I can use so that the picture will come out crystal-clear?

I've already tried an extreme close-up a couple of times but the picture came out blurry.

I know this is a dumb question but I don't know donkey squat about photography.

How do you price your pictures, such as for weddings, portraits, etc...? Do you use film or digital? How do your clients get their photos back: proofs, etc? I'm tring to get my photography business a little more off the ground and trying to find out how others do it, what works, what doesn't, etc....

Thanks!

I understand you can use your palm as a light meter. If I take a reading from my palm (same light as the subject) and it gives me a reading of 1/250 f 5.6, then I would adjust my settings to 1/125 f 5.6. OR 1/125 f 8.0 Is this correct..based on your palm being 1 stop brighter?

I am trying to learn my camera. I have a Canon EOS Rebel X (film camera). When I take a reading, and my camera gives me (what it thinks) is the correct shutter speed/aperture, but lets say, the reading is not accurate for low light situation. If I want to take a shot of what the camera says is accurate, and also want to take the same photo but over expose it by a stop and under expose it by a stop to see the different results...how would I do this? If the camera says the correct exposure is 1/30 f 5.6...would I change it to 1/60 f 5.6 or change the fstop? How would you change the settings to get 3 different looking photo's of the same subject?

Keeping in mind a beginner is taking the pictures. I will be able to develop the pictures myself in a black room and what not. :)

What sort of scenery looks better black and white?
What poses should my "models" take for the picture to look good?
Is there anything else I should know?

Is anyone familiar with the lightsphere II that Gary Fong created?
Its suppose to be a diffuser that projects light from your camera's flash. Does it really illuminate enough light that you wouldn't need studio lights indoors?

I recently got wedding digital wedding photo's from my sister. An on-line photo service printed my pictures. However, they came out funny. I noticed two white stripes on the 4x6. I found out that photographers use a big format ratio. How can I easily crop the digital image down to right ratio used by 4x6 prints? I need an easy way that allows me to pick the region I want to use. I don't want to cut off people's heads.

I have a 1979 Canon AE-1 and I would like to take some night shots but I'm having trouble keeping the shutter open. The only thing I've been able to do is hold it open with my finger, but I thought that I could click the button and it would stay open until I clicked the button again...any tips? I would appreciate it!
